Hardware Requirements
Many factors and variables can affect performance/response time that are outside Accela's control. Examples include but are not limited to: document size, network latency, and other heavy network activity occurring on the same network.

1 Core vCPUs: Each Civic Platform service needs 8 core vCPUs, plus 2 vCPUs for the operating system. For example, if installing the database server, make sure it has a minimum of 10 core vCPUs.
2 Accela Mobile Office (AMO) Memory Considerations: Every system can exhibit poor performance due to a variety of factors, low memory being just one.
In theory, Windows has no set limitation for memory because it uses both the installed physical memory (RAM), and, as this fills up, the system hard drive (typically C:) for additional virtual memory (memory page caching). The .NET Framework manages AMO memory, which allocates memory in a special designation called a heap and manages it within its size limitations. Performance may degrade when the operating system has less than 8GB of physical memory (RAM) available and the reserved bytes in managed heaps exceeds 6GB, especially if the system drive is getting low on space.
3 JVM Process Memory Size Recommendations for Data Centers: The Civic Platform installer includes default settings for the initial and maximum Java heap size in the wrapper.conf configuration file. Scale up the system by adding additional servers behind a load balancer. Using the recommended memory values below, add up the total GB of RAM for the Accela Services on the server plus 4 GB for the operating system. Ensure that the server has an equal or greater amount of RAM allocated. If you are experiencing system issues (such as lag), increase the RAM amount.
- If installing a Civic Platform server with the operating system (4 GB), av.api (4 GB), av.biz (12 GB), av.cfmx (4 GB) and av.web (8 GB), make sure it has 32 GB RAM or more.
- If installing a dedicated av.biz server (12 GB) plus the operating system (4 GB), make sure it has 16 GB RAM or more.
- If installing a dedicated av.indexer server (8 GB) plus the operating system (4 GB), make sure it has 12 GB RAM or more.
- If installing a dedicated av.ads server (8 GB) plus the operating system (4 GB), make sure it has 12 GB RAM or more.
- Find and update the initial (-Xmsxxxxm) and maximum (-Xmsxxxxm) memory for each Accela Service in its wrapper.conf file (where xxxxm = MB; for example 8GB = -Xms8192m or -Xmx8192m).

4 Minimum and Recommended RAM: The minimum amount of RAM suggested is the absolute minimum needed to run the system. For higher quality performance, especially for larger deployments, the recommended amount may be necessary.
