Examining the SmartCharts Form
When you create a new SmartChart (or edit an existing one), a SmartCharts form is displayed. Use the fields on the form to define what type of chart you want to create, what data values you want to use, and how you want the chart to appear. The table below lists the fields available by default in the SmartChart form.
Background Color | The color behind the actual chart. HTML hexadecimal value for colors can be used, or a color can be chosen from the color palette. |
Category (X) Axis Label | (Column (bar) or Line chart) The label text that you want to display below the horizontal axis. The Show Category (X) Axis Label field must be set to Yes to see this label. |
Chart Type | The type of chart. Options include Column (Bar) Chart, Line Chart, Pie Chart, Odometer, and Speedometer. See SmartChart Types for more information about the chart types. |
Column | (Column (bar) or Line chart) This is the column to be used for grouping SmartChart values. For example, if you want to display a line chart showing the number of each application type in your list, choose Record Type. |
Critical Start | (Speedometer) The value at which you want to start displaying a different color, which indicates a critical zone. |
Date Column Calculations | (Column (bar) or Line chart) This option is used to base statistical function and resulting SmartChart values on date columns. Use the Date Operand field to specify the date range that you want to use. For example, if you want to determine how many days it takes to process certain types of applications after they were submitted, select “Closed Date” in the first operand field and “Opened Date” in the second. |
Numeric Columns | (Column (bar) or Line chart) This option is used to base statistical function and resulting SmartChart values on a numeric column. For example, if you want to display a pie chart showing the average progress of certain types of applications, choose “Percent Complete.” |
Range Start/End | (Speedometer) This indicates the range of values you want to display, and define the start and end points of your speedometer. |
Show Category (X) Axis Label | (Column (bar) or Line chart) This controls the display of a label below the horizontal (category) axis. Use the Category (X) Axis Label field to define label content. |
